April funding update 2 - British Gas
British Gas New Energyshare Fund Opens for Applications
British Gas has announced that the first round of its new Energyshare Fund is now open for applications.
Initially a total of £500,000 is available for this funding round and registered community groups can apply for grants of up to £100,000 to develop and implement community renewable energy projects. British Gas will be making £3 million available over the next three years to support projects that:
- have the objective of saving or generating energy locally
- are supported by their local community
- will benefit the local community and have a tangible and lasting impact;
- some aspect of the project is realistically achievable within one year
- and will inspire even more community renewable projects.
To apply for funding community groups will need to register their project via the Energyshare Fund website by the 31st May 2011. If projects have demonstrated enough support for their group and the applicant meet the criteria they will be invited to submit a full application, in more detail. This will take place in June 2011.
