ECO Team

The Energy, Change and Opportunity Team (ECO Team) was created in 2009 at the same time as Wiltshire Council.    The team sits within the Economy and Enterprise service area of the council alongside Spatial Planning and Economic Development and Regeneration.

The team is tasked with coordinating the council’s response to climate change which involves action to reduce carbon emissions as well as adaptation to unavoidable climate change impacts.   The team’s work includes dealing with carbon reduction and adaptation both within the council and Wiltshire as a whole.

The ECO Team has recently created the council’s Energy, Change and Opportunity Strategy.   The Strategy sets out the council’s ambitions for reducing its carbon emissions as an organisation and preparing for unavoidable climate change. It links to other council strategies to ensure its objectives are embedded across the entire organisation.

The cross-cutting nature of the ECO team's work means that it requires strong leadership.   This is provided by the ECO Board which is chaired by Cllr Toby Sturgis who is the Cabinet Member for Waste, Property and Environment.
