Rubbish Revolution!
It’s time for a Rubbish Revolution!
Want to know how to make beads out of old newspapers? Or flowers from aluminium cans? How about mini-greenhouses from plastic bottles?
Wiltshire Wildlife Trust is calling for a revolution – a Rubbish Revolution to be precise - and has just launched a free online resource pack. The pack originally aimed at youth groups is packed full of useful facts and figures about local waste and fun educational activities. The activities could easily be used as a community activity to help promote your community groups key environmental messages.
The Rubbish Revolution is designed to help groups across the county inspire their community to reduce the amount of ‘stuff’ they buy and throw away and it provides stacks of ideas to get them reusing and recycling junk into something new and fabulous. The pack, created in partnership with Wiltshire Council, offers a toolkit for putting on a ‘Trash to Treasure’ event, advice on setting up recycling collections in your youth group and ideas for make do and mend activities. It also provides loads of information about rubbish and the impact it can have on the environment.
If you dont feel you have the capacity to use the Rubbish revolution pack please please pass it on to other groups in your community - as you agree the message is so important whoever delivers it.
