Funding your group

Transoco has achieved its first birthday and is asking members to renew their subscription. There are around 100 members of the Transition community in the Corsham area and their membership fees help support the basic running costs of the group.

Well done Corsham for reaching this milestone and good luck with your plans for the future.

Below is a letter to supporters from Tricia McLeod,  the membership secretary.

Dear Transitioners

I am contacting you because your name is on the current list of people who receive the Transition Community Corsham newsletter on a regular basis. A number of you joined the group as members in its early stages last year. Others are interested just to be kept informed of our activities.

Transcoco celebrated its first birthday in January, and in just a year we have achieved so much and established a strong presence within the community area. We now have a steering group and five sub-groups covering Energy, Transport, Awareness, Food and Recycling. We have launched the Keep Corsham Cosy Campaign with the Energy Savings Trust, endorsed by Corsham Town Council to insulate as many homes in the Corsham area as possible. The Awareness group are working in Corsham schools running workshops and assemblies to raise awareness of climate change and encourage eco-friendly practice within the schools. The Transport group has its bus stop audit before Corsham Town Council and the Area Board. And the Food group is gaining momentum for more allotments, a community orchard and is launching a food festival this year as part of Corsham Festival. Transcoco have also cemented strong links with other eco groups in the area, local councils and have met with the new Climate Change community Officer for Wiltshire Council.

We will be processing all memberships on an annual basis in February and so I am writing to see if you would like to renew your membership, join us as a new member or maybe feel able to make a donation to the ongoing work of Transcoco. Annual membership is just £12 per individual (£1 per month!), £15 per organisation and £20 for corporate members. Transcoco is a not-for-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers, so your money would go a long way to help fund the general day-to-day costs of running the group such as venue hire for meetings, event organisation, publicity costs and general administration expenses.

Attached to this leaflet is a copy of our new membership leaflet with full details on how to become a member. Or if you have any trouble opening the document you can send your details to Transcoco Memberships, c/o 16 South Street, Corsham, Wiltshire SN13 9HB along with a cheque for the relevant amount made payable to Transition Community Corsham.

Thank you for all your interest and support to date. We do hope you will feel able to continue supporting us as we look forward to another very positive year in the growth of Transcoco.

Kindest regards

Tricia McLeod
